There is huge scope for progression here at Cleland.

In my six years here, I have gone from Merchandiser to Senior Merchandiser and Team Leader to Senior Merchandise Manager, now responsible for cushions, bathroom, beanbags, kitchen and production planning.

I am constantly supported to develop my skills within the business and no two days are ever the same, so it keeps me on my toes! It’s great that I see the full product cycle start to finish.

I absolutely love working for a business led by strong family values. I knew from the minute I came for my very first interview that I wanted to grow and develop my career here.

I joined Cleland two years ago straight from university, where I began my career working within the DTC Direct To Consumer team.

Very quickly I understood that this was an organisation which drives success and growth through efficiency and quality, which instilled my passion for the role.

A year later became the first employee to be enrolled on the Cleland Management Development Programme and felt honoured to have been presented which such an opportunity.

I have since enjoyed spending time in key areas of business, giving me a better and broader understanding how different departments operate.

I’ve also attended a breadth of training and development courses, including one-to one-coaching – all helping to develop my capability and future growth.

It has made me even more determined to develop as a manager here at Cleland.

Danny

I started my Cleland journey over 10 years ago, joining the business as a Goods In Operative through an agency contract.

I have been fully supported by the business throughout my time here, and after training and development I quickly gained the role of Goods In Supervisor.

With further investment and training offered by the company, I now oversee the whole Goods In and Despatch operation over at our Kingsway sites, which have seen significant volume growth throughout this time.

During my decade at Cleland, I have really been able to develop my skills and grow my experience in product, process, and people management.

I feel a very valued member of the Operations Management Team.

I joined Cleland in 2018 after graduating from university.  I started working through an agency, starting in Production as a Warehouse Operative.  During the last 4 years I have worked in all areas of this department, covering picking product for store, packing and laterally running the fibre and feather machines for the filling division.  During this time I have also trained to become a forklift truck driver.  I really enjoy working at Cleland McIver, because there are so many different opportunities available, and I have been supported every step of the way through the building capabilities programme, working my way up the grades.

Early in 2023 I applied for the role of Compliance Co-ordinator within the business.  This was something very different to anything I had done before, but felt supported enough to push myself.  The skills and experience gained through working in the production department have come into great use, and I also see how much detail is involved in the Compliance Team.

I like the fact that everyday brings its different challenges within the department, but one which I feel confident to face – I’m proud of my role and what I bring to it, but also happy that Cleland McIver have given me the opportunity to develop further.
